Overview

Open Doors is funded by East Midlands Combined County Authority and delivered by DEBP. It gives Key Stage 3 students (ages 11–14) across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire a hands-on insight into the world of work. Through employer encounter days and workplace visits, students explore real workplaces, take part in career-related challenges, and learn about roles and pathways into future careers.

“Thank you for organising the event. Students engaged well and enjoyed the day, and the activities helped to develop teamwork and leadership skills.” – Teacher on an in-school Employer Encounter event

“A really nice event. Well-paced and accessible. Many thanks. Lots of opportunities to engage with potential future employers.” – Teacher on an University-hosted Employer Encounter event
